About Bobby

In 1975, Bobby’s hit single “Long Way To My House” (SIA Records) reached number seven in Texas and Louisiana radio markets.  Following a solo stint in Houston, Bobby formed “Silent e” with his brother Jim, and songwriting partner Jack Brown and his brother Riki.  The foursome played Bobby’s songs at venues throughout the late 1970s, fronting the band on both guitar and his newly acquired Yamaha CP-70 piano, one of the first electric grands in circulation at the time.

Riki left the band in 1980, and bassist Jack Beasley joined.  The new lineup, renamed “Eighty Cents”, opened shows for such artists as Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, The Tourists (Epic Records), and Orleans’ John Hall (Asylum Records).

In 1991, Bobby and his brother Jim teamed up with Albuquerque drummer Chris Hanosh to play the Arizona Music Festival.  This performance led to the 1995 Abbott Brothers “Best In The West” CD, which garnered substantial airplay in college markets with songs “City Bitches” and “Such A Little Girl”.  This record was recently re-released in digital format to internet radio, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and many others.

Today Bobby continues to write and record, and performs on occasion with Abbott Brothers or The Glowbars fronted by brother Jim.
