Lyrics

It Doesn't Matter - by Bob Abbott | Published by Abbsong Music, BMI

Verse
Make friends with the Chinese, and sell out the Jews
Pull the plug on the ocean, and light the nuclear fuse
you can do anything, good or bad
but I know something, baby we’ve been had

Chorus
It doesn’t matter, no it doesn’t matter
No it doesn’t matter, no it doesn’t matter

Verse
You can have a girlfriend, or be a drag
You can live with the monkeys, go to church with your dad
to the beach on Monday, or watch TV
it doesn’t matter baby, it’s not up to me

Chorus
It doesn’t matter, no it doesn’t matter
No it doesn’t matter, no it doesn’t matter

Verse
Well the nature, of the human mind
Nobody understands it, not even Einstein
So have lunch with the premier, or go for a ride
roll down your windows baby, air-condition the sky

Chorus
It doesn’t matter, no it doesn’t matter
Nothin’ nothin’ matters, it doesn’t matter
It doesn’t matter, nothin’ nothin’ matters
It doesn’t matter yeah, yeah

Got To Get Back - by Bob Abbott | Published by Abbsong Music, BMI

Verse
All the way from California I have come
Burnt across the desert facing the eastern sun

Chorus
Got to get back got to get back I think I’m late
Got to get back got to get back, back today

Verse
Goodbye, goodbye Los Angeles you’ve got me on the run
Why do you make me feel like I’m losin’ when I’ve really won

Chorus
Got to get back got to get back I think I’m late
Got to get back got to get back back today

Bridge
Day after day rolls by they add up to weeks
How can I function now when I’m clouded with dreams, dreams yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Verse
Goodbye, goodbye Los Angeles you’ve got me on the run
Why do you make me feel like I’m losin’ when I’ve really won

Chorus
Got to get back got to get back I think I’m late
Got to get back got to get back, back today

Bridge
Day after day rolls by they add up to weeks
How can I function now when I’m clouded with dreams, dreams, yeah

Verse
Crossed the state line and dropped down into New Mexico
Send our your banners put up your flags your boy is coming home, home

Chorus
Got to get back got to get back get out of my way
Got to get back got to get back gotta get
Got to get back got to get back gotta get
Got to get back got to get back back today

You Can Cry - by Bob Abbott and Jack Brown | Published by Abbsong Music, BMI

Verse
You can cry, break your leg, kiss the stars baby, but we’ll still be dead
Wash my sheets, make my bed, live together, but still hang your head

Verse
Don’t be sorry, don’t say please, ‘cause you’re so good, at playing the tease
Sacrifice, make it right, open your heart, yeah do it for spite

Verse
You say tomorrow, I say today, sorry for everything, is all you say
I want forever, you want to play, okay baby well I can’t stay

Verse
We’re all alone, separate lives, it’s all over now baby, except goodbye,
Yes I drink all day, thoughts of you, daylight, new light, someone new, someone new

Do You Need The Words - by Bob Abbott | Published by Abbsong Music, BMI

Verse
We all know what they say about love
We’ll have our kicks and let it die
But girl I want more than that
Let’s take our time and make it right

Verse
As I lie here with the ceiling staring back at me
And though you’re silent, I know you’re awake
There no need for apologies
No excuse for those tears in your eyes

Chorus
Don’t give me those words
Don’t give me those words

Verse
The weather report said it’s gonna rain all night
And though I’m tired, I can’t fall asleep
If I could just get you out of my mind
And meet you later in a dream

Verse
Maybe we’re cruising along at different speeds
And maybe I just need more time
Can’t we get past this and see how it plays out
But I don’t wanna hurt you, I don’t wanna fight

Chorus
Don’t give me those words
I can’t handle those words
Do you need those words
Don’t give me those words
Don’t give me those words

Verse
I suppose tomorrow I’ll be leaving you
But I really don’t know why
Do I have to lie here and out guess your mind
Why can’t we make up or at least try

Chorus
Don’t give me those words
I can’t handle those words
Do you need those words
Don’t give me those words
Don’t give me those words

Verse
I suppose tomorrow I’ll be leaving you
But I really don’t know why
Do I have to lie here and out guess your mind
Why can’t we make up or at least try

Chorus
Don’t tell me those words
Don’t tell me those words
Don’t say those words
Don’t give me those words
Can’t handle those words
Don’t tell me those words

Album Review

Songs on this EP were standard nightclub fare performed by Bobby's band "Eighty Cents" in the late seventies. The artwork, originally released for the band's City Bitches/Such A Little Girl single circa 1980, was created by the late Jack Brown Jr.

"It Doesn't Matter" is politics of the day mixed with crazy and punk guitars, "Got To Get Back" is about a CA road trip, "You Can Cry" is about a breakup, lyrics by Jack Brown, and "Do You Need The Words" is....yes, another breakup. It's mostly guitars on the EP, with the exception of "You Can Cry" with Bobby on piano.
